Laura is an experienced and passionate dance instructor and choreographer. Her spark started at the age of 7 when she took her first jazz class. She trained at Just for Kicks Dance Studio in Salmon Arm BC, where her teaching career began. She has studied many disciplines including ballet, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical and swing. After moving to Alberta, she attended the Teacher Training Program at the Edmonton School of Ballet where she studied the RAD and Cecchetti methods of ballet, alongside jazz, lyrical, modern, anatomy, music theory and dance history.
Known for her technical approach to teaching and her love for her students, Laura is a perpetual learner, seeking knowledge that will benefit her students and allow them to train safely and avoid injury. She teaches her students to work with their own body to develop with a balance of strength and flexibility, allowing them to achieve their own best work. In addition to encouraging the physical benefits and accomplishments available in dance, she believes in the potential for dance to be a community and a safe space for students and artists. She knows we can learn from each other and use dance to build our future.
When Laura stumbled across Acro Dance, she dove right in. She believes Acro Dance is the future of dance and ADTA has the support and knowledge she needed to give her students the best and safest training. Laura has accomplished the ADTA Junior Level and continues to progress through the ADTA syllabus.
