Michelle Godin

 CDTA, ADTA, DMA

Michelle’s Acro Dance training began at the age of 8 under the tutelage of Ida Sauve (CDTA Acrobatic examiner and life member).  She performed and competed in AcroDance at an International level for many years.  In 2007 she passed the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association (Ontario branch) Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced acrobatic exams with honours. This led to completing her teachers exam in 2008 and allowed her the chance to contribute to the revisions made to the syllabus at that time.  She also holds Acrobatic certification through Dance Masters of America.  Michelle has been on faculty with ADTA examining and teaching workshops since 2012.

Aside from her involvement in the Acro Dance community, Michelle is a full time Tap and Jazz teacher at North Calgary Dance Centre in Calgary, AB.  She is also no stranger to the stage. As a performer, she distributes herself amongst several different genres and types of projects. Events she has been part of include the Northern Lights Festival Boreal, World Junior Hockey Championships, WE Day, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald and the SAM Awards, to name a few.

Michelle has been a performing member of ‘O2 The Dance Company’ since 2011 and has been involved in all productions since.  As well as performing, she works behind the scenes as Rehearsal and Operational Director. Michelle had the honour of being a co-creator and setting choreography for the company’s last two full length contemporary dance productions.  Both projects were interactive experiences where audience members explored the space in close proximity to the dancers.  The company also prides itself on their efforts to build the Alberta dance community by offering training opportunities for professional and pre-professional dancers in Calgary.
